Who I Am: A Genealogist, Teacher, and Mom
Welcome! My name is Sarah Kelly, and I am the founder of Living Roots Genealogy, a space where family history comes to life. I hold a MSc in Genealogical, Palaeographic, and Heraldic Studies from the University of Strathclyde and have years of hands-on experience in traditional genealogy, genetic genealogy, and collaborative research.
By day, I'm a full-time 7th Grade reading teacher. By night (and nap time), I'm a genealogist and a mom, chasing other people's family stories while building my own. Living Roots Genealogy is my way of connecting people to their pasts - whether they're looking for their birth families, solving inheritance puzzles, or simply discovering the rich stories of their ancestors - though we often find real life roots in the process.

I am excited to announce the theme of this blog - AncesTea! On the whole, this blog will be a window into many facets of genealogical research. I'll share tips on using DNA to break through brick walls, explain records and resources that can help you find your own long-lost relatives, and offer behind-the-scenes looks at real research journeys (with permission, of course). Yet AncesTea adds a touch of the dramatic - because what is a family tree without a few nuts!
At AncesTea, we're comfortable getting down into the dirty details of genealogy, whether that be the more uncommon research methodologies or the stories we can uncover that our ancestors may have wanted to keep in the past.
